Artists collaborate to reveal a new side of the Golden Melody Award through creative design energy

The 2018 Golden Melody Award was a special edition, with JL DESIGN, a leader in the field of visual design in Taiwan, coordinating the efforts of many talented illustrators, designers, and animators in Taiwan to create a visual feast for the 29th Golden Melody Award.

We were fortunate to be part of this collaboration, providing a humorous interpretation through animation for the nominated video of the Best Band. The nominated video for Best Band at the 29th Golden Melody Award revolves around the concept of "Gashapon", which means "capsule toys" in Japanese.

The opening theme music features the song "The Prodigal Returns" by EggPlantEgg, a Taiwanese band, likening the band to friends who come together. The setting for the soundscape is within the gashapons, where upon opening them, not only characters but also music flows out. The exclamations of surprise when picking up the gashapons, along with narrator Crowd Lu, a Taiwanese singer and songwriter, cheering for each nominee, make it seem like every fan of the bands is cheering for them.

At the end, the discreet addition of the unique sound of Taiwan's convenience stores' bell sound is incorporated, as gashapon machines are commonly seen outside convenience stores. The expectation is to evoke the everyday life experiences unique to Taiwan through sound effects.
